We call it the Vineyard Pruner because it it is designed solely for hand held use and is therefore more suitable for use in the vineyard. It is not compatible with the extension pole included in the Orchard Pruning Kit.
Powerful, light, with a comfortable rubberized grip, this high-tech electric pruner has a 30mm (1.2) inch cutting capacity and can be used all day with the comfortable backpack battery pack. The tool weighs only 35 oz. and the entire unit with battery pack is only 4 lb. The trigger mechanism is non-progressive. Activation of the trigger completely closes the blade against the anvil.
This is a great professional tool for anyone working in an orchard, vineyard, nursery or other forestry setting requiring continuous pruning and the ergonomic design may help prevent repetitive use injuries associated with heavy pruning.

I have a 3.5 acre vineyard and do my own pruning. Before I bought my electric pruner I was ready to give up due to arthritis and carpel tunnel from using manual pruners. No longer an issue with this gadget. I have never run out of battery power even after a full day of work. Plenty of power to cut trunks and cordons. B careful as they will also cut 14 gauge high strength wire. Great product!
Great Customer Service
I accidentally knocked something into the power cord and the pins sheared off inside the machine. I also needed instruction on repairing the jaw attachment on another unit. Bud responded almost immediately to my email with information to help us troubleshoot and determined he could repair much more easily than we could. The units were repaired and returned to me in less than a week and are in perfect working order. He also followed up a few days later to make sure everything was working properly. Having purchased two units, a few parts over the years and now these repairs, my experience is that Orchardmaster never overcharges for anything, promptly communicates with their customers and is basically a great company to work with , one that more companies should strive to emulate.
Nice job folks
Late last Tuesday afternoon I noticed my vineyard pruner would randomly not activate when I attempted a cut. I am in Illinois and it is getting late in day. I called Orchardmaster and left a message with service department. I also sent an email. After a couple email exchanges and well past dinner, Bud diagnosed the problem and said he would put new power cords in mail. I am pleased to say, the cords arrived via priority mail Saturday morning. Nice job folks.
Very well built and balanced unit, powerful and light weight. We have been using it to cut bamboo like material for about a year now and are still on the original blades and have not sharpened them yet. Will cut 1" bamboo in a bite or two, and 1.5" in two or three. We had been using PVC pipe cutters or two hands on regular pruners, these shears have saved many sore hands. The cycle time is fast and the cut is crisp. The battery pack is relatively light weight and will last all day for us. Everyone is impressed with them. First time users simply say "Wow" and then go find something to cut just for fun.
Vineyard & Winery Owner
We just completed pruning 7000+ grapevines for the year. These pruners made it possible to get it done in record time, without pain or stress on the hands that manual pruners can cause. They are light weight, durable, easy to operate & maintain. Orchard Master is the best vineyard products company to work with. I only wish they offered more products so I could buy from them exclusively!
Great customer service
I really like my pruners from OrchardMaster, but want to say also that customer service is outstanding! My power connector cord went on the blink, and after talking with them, it was cheerfully replaced and sent to me, free of charge. I didn't expect such excellent treatment, and would buy from them again, any day.
I recently bought these pruners form Orchardmaster.com and have been very happy with them. After years of pruning I had developed a trigger finger and other hand problems. The pruners really save my hands and allow me to work longer in the vineyard. Along with the reviews above, I must say that the customer service I have received from this company has been fantastic. One call does it all! I would recommend these pruners and this company to any serious vineyardist. Len Thompson Amherst Vineyard, VA
Electric Pruner is a Must Have at an Excellent Price! SUPPORT: Pruner issues have been handled better and faster than I would have hoped or expected. A broken trigger probably caused by me transporting the pruner not in the holster was also handled immediately. PROS: Great power. Pruner easily cuts through any cane that will fit and larger canes can be handled with a second cut. I love being able to prune at an angle that I would not be able to with a hand pruner. Battery lasts more than 8 hours of continuous use. Blade appears stronger than my Felco blades. Not a nick despite encounters with cordon wire and T-posts. Harness easily handles the battery weight so that it is not noticeable. Pruner appears identical to other manufacturer's pruners at twice the price. Recommend this pruner and dealer. CONS: Loose nut on the trigger caused one failure and pruner cord became intermittent. Suggest buying a second cord as spare.
Electric Pruning Kit
This pruner is so good we bought a second pair! One thing I would watch for are the screws holding the trigger housing together. Ours came lose so be sure to check them from time to time. Other than that, no problems whatsoever. I would not even think about buying a different brand or from anyone else, for that matter. Highly recommended company and product!
Electric Pruner works well !
02/05/2013In our 5th-leaf vineyard, this device does what it promises - it saves me the aching pain in my hands, from hand-pruning hundreds and hundreds of winter grapevine canes. I like this!
STRENGTHS: Solid construction / clean-cutting / easily handles 1/2 - 3/4 in.canes / battery lasts a long time / backpack not burdensome / reasonable price. This pruner cleanly lops through a tough 3/4 in. winter cane - it's so quick and powerful, I highly recommend the steel mesh glove for the non-cutting hand, for safety! The battery is great - I cut for 5 hours straight, and only depleted it halfway. The blade/anvil are so ruggedly built, that I accidentally cut my 12.5 gua. cordon wire twice, with hardly a dent in the blade edge.
WEAKNESSES: No progressive cut (if you activate the trigger, the jaws go from fully-open to fully-closed, in a second) / Somewhat unwieldy in tight corners (I feel you need to still carry your hand pruners, to get those hard-to-get smaller canes). Big value for the buck!
Electronic Pruning Kit
I prune 12 acres of grapevines every year and really needed to be using electric pruners because I was ruining my hand. I prune all weights of vines, from Syrah to Cabernet (if you have to prune Cab, you know how hard it is). I finally found pruners priced right from Orchard Master. These pruners work great! No more pain in my hand and the battery pack is so light I don't even notice it's there. The pruners themselves are light and very easy to handle. I highly recommend these. "Labor costs continue to rise for vineyards and shortage of reliable
workers continues to be a challenge. As well, laborers are at risk for
acute injuries while pruning and long-term repetitive strain injuries. A
desire to increase productivity and reduce operating costs in a
competitive market has lead growers to look a bit more carefully toward
